Using SMB shares on Raspberry

2012/12/25

To use files from a share hosted on a windows system you only need to mount that share. The support is build in ( verified for the debian whezzy image).

Make a directory where you want to mount the share on the raspberry. Typically a folder in /mnt is used. Our mount directory is called “box”

sudo mkdir /mnt/box

then mount the share here I use the C$ share on a windows pc with the name winbox. The windows user account is Anton .  The windows pc is member of a workgroup

sudo mount -t cifs  //winbox/c$ /mnt/box -o user=Anton

you need to enter then password. Then you can ls /mnt/box to see the windows files

 pi@raspberrypi ~ $ ls /mnt/box -l
